I'm glad you're here! My name is Mirjam, but you can call me Miri.
Movement and hobbies have been a part of me since I was little. I started with ballet and later attended several standard dance courses. However, it was during my studies in Religious Studies and Music Education + Management that I discovered my true passion: Capoeira. Right from the beginning, I felt the infectious Brazilian zest for life, which I had already experienced during my time in Italy, where I met many Brazilians.
In the world of Capoeira, I continued to evolve by assisting with children's training and soon took on the role of a trainer myself. It was an exciting experience because teaching requires a deep understanding of the subject matter. I cherished the mix of teaching and continuously learning myself for many years. After spending six months in Brazil, where I had the opportunity to immerse myself even more in Capoeira, we founded a Capoeira association in Erfurt. I was responsible for the children's training and served as an assistant trainer for adults. Through this, I continuously grew both in terms of organizing the association and conducting training sessions.
In the summer of 2019, I got introduced to Zouk, and maybe it's the Brazilian culture, but I discovered a second passion here. It's completely different from Capoeira, yet they complement each other wonderfully.
When the lockdown hit in 2020, and my regular training sessions were no longer possible, I had to rely on my own discipline. To my surprise, I discovered what was possible. I delved into fitness, core training, and home acrobatics, exploring various online courses and apps. It was during this time that I conceived the idea of pursuing a distance learning course to become a Personal Trainer. I have since obtained several certificates, and now I feel ready to start. :-)
